Branding
Otium
Imagining a world without fossil fuels, I was asked to reconsider my assigned object, a smartphone, and imagine a society that has moved beyond the current economic growth paradigm towards a more desirable future, informed by the principles of post-growth.
My team and I created a trio of hubs dedicated to using free time in a more productive way, each hub would either be dedicated to learning, community or wellbeing, surrounded by lush forests with opportunities for hiking and gardening.
These sketches are each designed to represent a different aspect of an octopus, such as their eating habits, grip strength, the water and ink they can expel, their three hearts, and even their protective maternal behaviour.
We visited KImmeridge Bay to collect colour samples we could use in our branding, as well as to gain insights in to the environment and textures of Rock Pools.
We decided to hold a festival for our hub as a brand experience, providing an annual event for people to enjoy and look forward to.
We envision using platforms like Instagram and TikTok, as these are likely the apps that our target audience of 15-year-old would use the most frequently.
I ended up with outcomes for the merchandise, as well as an edited image to showcase what our festival experience would be like.
